California State University, Los Angeles has launched a new on-site campus at the California Institution for Men in Chino, allowing 66 incarcerated men to pursue and earn college degrees. This initiative expands the university’s Prison Graduation Initiative, a decade-old program aimed at providing higher education opportunities to incarcerated individuals. The new campus features modern classrooms equipped with Wi-Fi, laptops, and electronic displays. In partnership with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), the program is designed to support rehabilitation, reduce recidivism, and improve post-release outcomes. Participating students can earn degrees from various institutions, including UC, CSU, private, and community colleges.
